Great Britain Cycling Medals

Chris Boardman's gold medal in the 4 km individual pursuit in Barcelona, in 1992, was not Britain's first cycling medal for over 70 years – but it was our first Olympic gold medal in cycling since 1920. In the meantime our cyclists had won eight Olympic silver medals (the last by the men's road race team at Melbourne in 1956) and eleven bronze (including the team pursuit in 1956, 1972 and 1976). What medals we might have won outside the Olympics, I haven't been able to ascertain.
